EXECUTIVE  BOARD  2019-2020

President

Sara Moosa

Sara is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Business Administration. Post graduation, she hopes to attend medical school and specialize in neonatology. Sara has been an active member of AED since her freshman year and loves this organization because of its unique set of members and the people she has met through it. Outside of AED, she is a First Year Leader and a Peer Advisor in the residence halls. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, photography and is a huge coffee enthusiast.

Tarjani Shukla

Tarjani is entering her 4th year at UT Dallas. She is currently a graduate student working in Dr. Zachary Campbell’s lab. She has been a member for AED since her freshman year and appreciates the variety of service opportunities that AED provides for its members. She is interested in pursuing a career in academic medicine, merging her interests in research and clinical medicine to serve patients.

Lydia Sobhi

Lydia is a senior Biology major hoping to attend medical school and work in pediatrics. She is also a PLTL Team Leader for Organic Chemistry and loves being involved on campus. She has been a part of AED for the last three years and enjoys watching the club grow. In her free time, she enjoys bowling, volunteering at a horse rescue, and playing board games.

Taylor Santos

Taylor is a junior at UTD majoring in neuroscience and minoring in public health. After graduation she hopes to attend medical school to pursue a career in dermatology. She’s been a part of AED since her freshman year and is excited to meet and get to know all of the members this year. In her free time she loves being with her friends, skating, and exploring Dallas.

Daanish Khazi-Syed

Daanish is a senior currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Biology. He hopes to attend medical school and study emergency medicine. He is an SI Leader for Statics, and is the treasurer of the UT Dallas chapter of the John Quincy Adams Society. In his free time, Daanish enjoys reading, fishing, and watching Netflix.

Historian

Patrick Nnoromele

As an advocate for medical practice and discovery, Patrick Nnoromele is a sophomore currently majoring in Neuroscience with ambitions to pursue a career as an MD/PhD. He is both a Eugene McDermott Scholar and a National Merit Scholar recipient, and he serves as a student advocate in several student organizations on campus. He has performed research in neural nanotechnology at UT Dallas and currently works in a molecular biology laboratory at UT Southwestern. As an AED officer, he looks forward to empowering the next generation of pre-health students at UT Dallas by building a passion and success driven community within the program.

Ayoung "JoJo" Jo

Ayoung, who usually goes by her nickname, JoJo, is a senior majoring in Biology. She hopes to attend dental school after graduating. She is the Life & Arts editor of the Mercury, the student newspaper, and she also serves as a Student Leader at the Office of Student Volunteerism. In her free time, JoJo loves trying out new food places (& curating her foodstagram @j.eats.food), running and sleeping.

Michelle Thieu

Michelle is a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Business Administration. She plans to attend medical school after graduating and is currently a clinic manager at Calvert. Additionally, she is a TA for Biochemistry, First Year Leader, and officer for the Chemistry Student Association. In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and has recently taken up baking.

Levi Beeks

Levi is a senior majoring in Biology. He plans to attend medical school after graduation and will decide what to specialize in during his tenure. He is an SI leader for Biochemistry, an assistant researcher in a Heme-biology lab, the Scholarship and Academics Chair for the social fraternity Chi Phi, an Interfraternity Council member, and a mentor for transfer students at UTD. In his free time he loves to workout, play sports, and spend time with friends.

Pushti Mehta

Pushti in a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Business Administration. She hopes to attend dental school after graduation and then decide on specialization. On campus, Pushti is a Freshman Mentor, part of Pre-Dental Association, and part of Akshay Patra. Outside of school, Pushti is a Registered Dental Assistant, working at a dental clinic. During her free time, Pushti enjoys traveling, hiking, and watching movies and crime shows.

Cindy Ngo

Cindy is a sophomore majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology with plans to attend medical school. She is a PLTL leader for General Chemistry, undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Kilgard's auditory lab, and clinic manager at Calvert Place. Outside of campus, she is a SERV Student at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, nationally registered EMT, and taekwondo instructor. During her free time, Cindy enjoys playing the cello, training for her 2nd degree black belt, and exploring the outdoors with friends and family.

Yasir Bilal

Yasir is a sophomore neuroscience major with plans to attend medical school. He works as a research assistant working for a project on neural plasticity at the Texas Biomedical Device Center. He is a PLTL leader for General Chemistry, a Freshman Mentor, and a clinic manager at the UGM Calvert Men’s Shelter. In his free time, he enjoys long distance running, watching the Bachelorette, and reading.

Nikole Gaab

Nikole is a junior majoring in Neuroscience. She plans on attending medical school after graduation. In addition to being a Service Chair for AED, Nikole is on the Youth Leadership board for a cultural Filipino organization called CCNT, she is also a First Year Leader and is part of the Student Leadership Team for the Comet Cupboard on campus. In her free time Nikole enjoys going thrift shopping, playing volleyball, and art.

Ashley Gi

Ashley is a sophomore majoring in Biology and minoring in Business Administration. She plans to attend medical school after graduating and is currently interested in Emergency Medicine. She works as a scribe in the emergency department and is a clinic manager at the Center of Hope. In her free time, Ashley enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, thrifting, and making Spotify playlists.

Veda Tsai

Veda is a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience. She hopes to attend Pharmacy school after graduation and work in specialty pharmaceuticals with a focus on international orphan diseases and orphan drugs. Outside of AED, she is a National Merit Ambassador, a member of UTD's Mock Trial team, Molding Doctors, and UNICEF. Veda is also doing research in Dr. Christa K. McIntyre's Neurobiology of Memory lab. In her free time, she enjoys watching Netflix, cooking, and running.

Megan Whiting

Megan is a sophomore majoring in Molecular Biology. She plans to attend medical school after graduating and is interested in pursuing neonatal or trauma surgery. She is a Research Associate at UT Southwestern through the TEMRAP program and is completing a course to become EMT certified and join UEMR. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, riding her motorcycle, reading, cooking, and traveling.
